Childhood Stories

On my trip back home I also picked up some of the stories that I loved when I was a child. As previously mentioned in my New Direction post books have defiantly inspired me.

The first very worn book that was loved by me, my brothers and sister was 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. To me I loved the stages of him finding more and more food then going into a cocoon and emerging as a butterfly.
I think it was the use of colour and easily recognisable shapes of food that grabbed my imagination. This was defiantly a very interactive book in the whole layout of it and slight humour behind it.
Another book that I loved was a Dutch book 'The Fat Cat'. This book also funny enough goes along the lines of eating too much and everything. I obviously loved the idea of eating huge amounts of food!
As I had previously already mentioned 'Cinderella' defiantly was inspirational to me. It wasn't so much the story but the beautiful drawings. I actually remember longing to be her and wearing the dresses.
Unfortunately I couldn't find my copy of 'The Happy Prince' this book is just from the Library. But what I did find was my own drawings for the book.
To me these drawings describe the book better. I love how innocent and beautiful they are.
I also couldn't find my copy of 'The Twelve Dancing Princesses' from the Brother's Grimm stories, so yet again here is a copy from the Library.
I found my version of the book with my own illustrations which seem very accurate to the actual story. I think by looking at these books and my own drawings I have defiantly discovered that I was a dreamer and wanted to be apart of this fantasy world. I think if I can try and bring in elements from these it will defiantly push my shoot with more ideas but also make it more personal.
